Health and Fitness Flashcards
What are the 3 types of health?
Mental
Physical
Social wellbeing
What may poor health lead to?
May reduce fitness and the individual may not be able to train due to a for example virus
What may improving fitness lead to?
Improved health
What is fitness?
The ability to cope with the demands of your environment
What is cardiovascular endurance?
The ability of the heart and lungs to supply oxygen to the working muscles
What is strength?
The ability to overcome a resistance, relates to the force that can be produced by a muscle
What is dynamic strength
Repeated contraction without fatigue
What is explosive strength?
Combination of strength and speed
What is maximal strength?
The largest force that can be produced in one contraction
What is static strength?
Holding the body part still in a position
What is muscular endurance?
The ability of a muscle to repeat the same movement without fatigue/getting tired
What is coordination?
The ability to used two or more body parts together smoothly
What is flexibility?
The range of movement possibilities at a point
What is reaction time?
The time taken to respond to a stimulus
What is specificity?
Matching training to the needs of the sport e.g muscles needed
What is progressive overload?
Gradually increasing the amount of work done to improve fitness without risk of injury
When body is made to work harder then normal in gradually adapts
What is reversibility?
Fitness levels are reduced due to lack of training so your body will reverse back to its pre training state so adaptations will be lost.
Caused by injury or illness
What is Tedium?
Boredom caused by repeating the same training method over and over again
Can become demotivating and effort lost
Verity is needed training
How to calculate Aerobic threshold’s?
1.Calculate max heart rate
220-age
2. Calculate 60% of max heart rate
3. Calculate 80% of max heart rate
4. Step 2 - Step 3
How to calculate Anaerobic threshold?
- Calculate max heart rate
220-age - Calculate 80% of max heart rate
- Calculate 90% of max heart rate
- Step 2 - Step 3
What are the main training seasons?
-Pre season
-Competitive season
-Post season
