Movement Flashcards
hyperextension

ex: bending head back or moving arm/leg backwards at shoulder/hip.
flexion
reducing angle of the joint
ex: bending elbow or knee; tip head forward
extension
restoring the angle of the joint.
ex: unbending elbow/knee; lifting head to neutral position.
Lateral flexion
leaning from side to side at the core
abduction
move limb away from body; spreading fingers
adduction
move limb toward body; closing fingers
lateral rotation
rotate limb away from body
medial rotation
rotate limb toward the body
rotation of atlanto-axial joint
turn head to side
circumduction
rotation of shoulder or hip in full circle
elevation
closing jaw
depression
opening jaw
protraction
push jaw forward
retraction
pull jaw backward
inversion
twist foot inward
