Define Urban environment
includes the physical aspects of the urban area as well as the complex and dynamic interaction and relationships between its key components—the terrain (natural and man-made), the society, and the supporting infrastructure.
What is the 3 block war concept?
block 1: humanitarian operations
Block 2: stabilization operations
Block 3: full scale military operations
what are the 4 basic levels of urban warfare?
Building
Street

What does ASCOPE mean in regards to civilian considerations?
Area, structures, capabilities, organizations, people, events
What is aperture analysis?
Analysis of the number of windows, doors, holes due to weapons effects in the building

The core periphery is located at the edges of the city core. The core periphery consists of streets 12 to 20 meters wide with continuous fronts of brick or concrete buildings.
What are some questions to consider when planning a MOUT mission?
Do I need to clear every building?
Should I clear only certain blocks?
Should I only control certain areas?
What level of protection is required for my lines of communication?
What does an urban task organiation look like?
Security unit, assault unit, support Unit
What is the primary purpose of the Security unit?
The primary purpose of the security unit is to isolate the objective by denying possible enemy reinforcement from entering the objective area, preventing the enemy from leaving the objective area, and enabling the assault unit to make entry into the objective.
what is the primary purpose of the support unit?
The primary purpose of the support unit is to suppress the enemy on the objective using direct and indirect fires. The support unit is a shaping effort that sets conditions for the mission’s decisive effort (i.e., the assault unit).
what is the primary purpose of the assault unit?
The primary purpose of the assault unit is to seize or clear the objective. In the urban environment, seizing or clearing the objective generally looks like breaching a building, gaining entry, and conducting room clearing.
what is the task organization of the Assault Unit?
