1
Q

Q

How would you investigate MND? (5)

A
  • Bloods: raised creatinine due to muscle destruction
  • Electromyography: assesses denervation of muscles
  • Nerve conduction studies: rule out motor neuropathies
  • LP: exclude inflammatory causes
  • MRI: exclude structural causes

Q

How would you treat MND? (3)

A

[No treatment]

  • Riluzole (disease delaying)
  • MDT management
  • Symptomatic management
17
Q

How would you treat excess saliva in MND?

A

Advise on positioning, oral care, suctioning

18
Q

How would you treat dysphagia in MND?

A

NG/ PEG tube

19
Q

How would you treat spasticity in MND? (2)

A

Same as in MS

  • Baclofen
  • Gabapentin
20
Q

How would you treat joint pain in MND?

A

Analgesic ladder
