Motivation Flashcards
Why do you wish to be in the Australian Defence Force (ADF)?
- Always wanted to work in a team environment that works as a family
- Family moved to Australia to provide the best opportunities and the best opportunity for me would to be able to protect and serve my country
- Grown up in a family which values respect and honour
- Love to travel
- Love to be able to help those less fortunate than me (eg. natural disaster survivors)
Why do you wish to join the Service you are applying for? (AIRFORCE)
o I have always wanted to aid in foreign countries, whether it be Australians or other nationalities
o My eyes have been opened after what had just happened in Afghanistan and seeing all of those people in need of evacuation, it would be an honour to go help them and bring them to safety
o The Air Force will allow me to enhance my ability to lead, serve and help people
o By joining the Air Force, the goal oriented training and education will strengthen my ability to both lead and help individuals
o I believe that the training that I will undertake will help me find characteristics I am yet to develop
o In the Air Force I am able t travel to help communities in need
Why do you wish to join the Service you are applying for? (ARMY)
o I have always wanted to aid in foreign countries, whether it be Australians or other nationalities
o My eyes have been opened after what had just happened in Afghanistan and seeing all of those people in need of evacuation, it would be an honour to go help them and bring them to safety
o The Army offers a blend of career and lifestyle opportunities that I don’t believe I would find in the civilian world
o I get to perform rewarding work that really makes a different
o I get to take part in exciting missions and see amazing places while making life long friends
Why do you want to be a nurse?
o Being a nurse is one of the best jobs you can have
o As a doctor you diagnose patients and provide treatments and that about it, as a nurse, you have the opportunity to help the patient more, you get to care for them and help them through treatments, you get to stand by them the whole time and build up a rapport with them
o It’s a career that saves lives, brings happiness to individuals and families and allows us to comfort those in need
- I am Christian and so I think the ultimate way to love people is to serve them and even if I just help them by putting a smile on their face if they’ve been away from their family for a long time I will be pleased
What do you think some of the challenges you will face at basic training?
o I think I will enjoy basic training, pushing myself and learning new things everyday however the thing that I would struggle with the most is the distance from my family
How will you overcome these challenges?
o To overcome this, I will bring photos of my family with and key memorabilia to remind me of them
o I would hope to make friends quickly so that I am able to become close with other ADF personnel who are in the same situation as I am in
