What is self-efficacy?
An individual’s belief that he is capable of performing a task
What happens to low self-efficacy people experience in difficult situations?
They are likely to give up on their task
What does setting difficult goals do to people?
It communicates your confidence in them; The person can achieve a lot
What are the 4 ways self-efficacy can increase?`
Enactive mastery, vicarious modeling, verbal persuasion, arousal
What is enactive mastery?
Gaining relevant experience with the task or job
What is vicarious modeling?
Becoming more confident because you see someone else doing the task
What is verbal persuasion?
Becoming more confident because someone convinces you that you are capable of becoming successful (motivation speakers)
What does arousal lead up to?
An energizes state so the person performs better
What is the Pygmalion effect?
A form of self-fulfilling prophecy in which believing something can make it true
