Q

What is the definition of deceleration

A

It means slowing down

The object will have a smaller final velocity than it’s starting velocity

Q

what is the equation for average velocity

A

Initial velocity+ final velocity

16
Q

Acceleration of free fall

A

Objects that are said to be undergoing free fall, are not encountering a significant force of air resistance; they are falling under the sole influence of gravity. Under such conditions, all objects will fall with the same rate of acceleration, regardless of their mass

17
Q

Terminal velocity

A

Is when there is no resultant force and the object reaches a steady speed

18
Q

3 stages of falling object

A

At the start - accelerates downward, no air resistance
Resultant force acts downwards
As it gains speed- weight is the same, air resistance increases - resultant force is downwards
Eventually, the object’s weight is balanced by the air resistance. There is no resultant force and the object reaches a steady speed, called the terminal velocity.
