Treponema pallidum:

A
  • causative agent of syphilis from direct contact with a lesion.
  • primary stage (10-90 days). Painless lesion on genital membrane.
  • had serous exudate
  • secondary stage (2-12weeks) after primary. Rash, usually on palms and soles of feet.
  • alopecia-hair loss
  • usually latent period of (3-15years)
  • tertiary stage:a gummas forms on the genital membrane, rubbery mass of tissue.
  • treated with long lasting penicillin
