A
- the science of what humans ought to do by reason of who they are
- ## to discern what is good

what are the three sources of knowledge for catholic morality
A
- human reason (intellect)
- human experience (collective wisdom)
- Divine revelation (scripture and sacred tradition)

responding to God requires what?
A
- intelligence- we can know the truth about God; we have human reason
- freedom- we are created free with dignity; we can determine our own lives through our decision and actions

what is moral relativism?
A
- the belief that nothing is objectively good or evil
- does not acknowledge that there is such a thing as morality
- “what ever works for you”

what is the problem with moral relativism?
A
- it denies that sin is real
- it rejects the truth
- it denies that we have a need for repentance
- rejects what God has revealed

what is absolute/objective truth?
A
- somethings are good and somethings are evil
- you can’t have a discussion on what is moral if your reject absolute truth
- if you reject this, then you reject responsibility and Jesus.
- Life in Christ accepts the truth

what is the authority of the church?
A
- magisterium
- entrusted with guarding and handing on the Deposit of Faith
- authentically interpreting God’s revelation in Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition.
- it is the Church’s duty to bring the truth of Christ (the Gospel) to all people
