(MDD) Diagnostic criteria
A
•5 or more symptoms in the same 2-week period w/ a change in functioning AND either (1) depressed mood OR (2) loss of interest or pleasure

(MDD) Symptoms
A
- Lack of interest or pleasure in all or most activities
- Significant weight loss or gain
- Insomnia or hypersomnia nearly every day

Persistent Depressive Disorder (PDD) Diagnostic criteria
A
- Depressed mood for most of the day for at least 1 year
- 2 or more symptoms while depressed
- No manic/hypomanic

(PDD) Symptoms
A
- Poor appetite or overeating
- Insomnia or hypersomnia
- Low energy or fatigue

DISRUPTIVE MOOD DYSREGULATION (DMDD) Diagnostic criteria
A
- 3 or more outbursts times per week
- Age 6- 10 but no older than 18
- Recurrent severe temper outbursts

A
“mood swings”
- extreme intensity and duration of outbursts
- irritable and outbursts of temper

BIPOLAR DISORDER (Manic/Hypomanic) Diagnostic criteria
A
MANIC EPISODE
A. Persistently elevated expansive, or irritable mood lasting at least 1 week
B. 3 or more symptoms (4 if the mood is only irritable)
C. Mood disturbance is sufficiently severe, necessitates hospitalization
HYPOMANIC EPISODE
- lasting 4 consecutive days and present
- does not need hospitalization.

BIPOLAR DISORDER Symptoms
A
- Inflated self-esteem or grandiosity.
- Decreased need for sleep
- More talkative than usual
- Distractibility
