Monocular Cues Flashcards
Overlapping
The placing of one object in front of another. Experience teaches us to perceive partly covered objects as being farther away than those that block them from view.
Shadow/Highlights
They give information about 3-D shapes and where they are in relation to the source of light
Motion Parallax
Tendency of objects to seem to move forward or background depending on how far away they are. Distant objects seem to move forward with you. Intermediate objects seem to stay still. Nearby objects go by rapidly.
Perspective
Tendency to see parallel lines as converging as they move away. Our perception of a familiar object’s size is a cue to its distance from us
Clearness
Tell us how far away something. Nearby objects have more detail.
