Monoclonal antibodies Flashcards
What are these monoclonal antibodies
They are produced from loads of clones of a single B-lymphocyte white blood cell that are identical and target only one type of antigen
Without the steps
How do you make these antibodies
Fusing the B-lymphocyte white blood cells with tumour cells to form a hybridoma. These new cells can be cloned to get lots of identical cells that produce antibodies that can be collected or used to bind to a specific antigen
What three things are these antibodies used for
Pregnancy tests
Treating disease
Finding chemicals in blood
With steps
In a lab how would you make these antibodies
Inject mouse with antigen
Mouse produce lymphocytes
Take the lymphocytes
Fuse the lymphocytes with tumour cell to ge hybridoma
The hybridoma will divide to produce lots of clones
