No, every country has it’s own currency and we need to use that country’s curreny to buy things
How do we get another country’s currency?
We go to Money Changers and exchange our S$ for that other currency.
Why is there 2 rates of exchange for each currency?
The money changer
Buys AUD$1 for S$1.02
Sells AUD$1 for S$1.071

Which rate do you use to buy Swiss France $100

If we want to buy, we must choose the rate that the bank sells.

S$1.02 * 50 = S$51
I wish to buy AUD$50, how much S$ must i give?
S$1.071 * 50 = S$53.55
I wish to buy CAD$200, how much S$ will i need?
S$1.06 * 200 = S$212
I wish to sell AUD$200, how much S$ will i receive?
S$1.02 * 200 = S$204
