Momentum and Impulse Flashcards
Newton’s First Law
An object that is not moving wants will remain not moving and an object moving at a constant velocity will remain moving in a constant velocity and in the same direction unless an external force is added, causing the system to become unbalanced
Newton’s Second Law
An object will accelerate in the direction of it’s net force
Newton’s Third Law
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction
Inertia
the tendency to remain unchanged
Momentum
is an object with mass that is in motion
Perfectly PLASTIC impact
When the two systems collide, they stick together and velocity is completely lost
Perfectly ELASTIC impact
When the two systems collide, they completely separate and velocity is conserved
