Q

Why are airbags important

A

Airbags increase the time over which the momentum of the body changes to zero. This decreases the force acting acting on the passenger since fnet = change in momentum therefore fnet is inversely proportional to time. therefor less chance of injury

Q

What happens to the change of momentum to objects that collide and separate after wards

A

According to Newtons 3rd when two objects collide the force exerted on both objects will be equal in magnitude. the time of contact will also be the same. therefore the change in momentum will be the same for both objects
