Moles Equations Flashcards
Number of particles/molecules/atoms equation:
No. of particles/molecules = moles(mol) x 6.02x10 23
No. atoms:
Mass/Mr = mol
Mol x 6.02x10 23 = molecules
No. Atoms (ie N2 = 2 atoms) x molecules =No. atoms
Rearrange the equation for the no. of particles
No. of particles = moles x 6.02x10 23
Moles = no. of particles/ 6.02x 10 23
Mass equation:
Mass = moles(mol) x Mr(g mol-1)
Rearrange the equation for mass:
Mass = moles x Mr
Moles = mass/ Mr
Mr = mass/ moles
Equation for volume:
Volume = mole(dm3) x 24( g mol-1)
Rearrange the equation for volume:
Volume = mole x 24
Mole = volume/ 24
Equation for moles in solution:
Moles = concentration x volume
Rearrange equation for moles in a solution:
Moles = conc x vol
Conc = moles/ vol
Vol = moles/ conc
Equation for mass concentration:
Mass conc(g dm-3) = conc(mol dm-3) x Mr(g mol-1)
Arrange the equation for mass concentration:
Mass conc(g dm-3) = conc(mol dm-3) x Mr( g mol-1)
Conc = mass conc/ Mr
What are the 3 equations for moles?
Mol = vol/ 24
Mol = mass/ Mr
Mol = conc x vol
The ladder equation:
Mass = Mr x n
n = conc x vol
vol = n x 24
