Describe Acute Rheumatic Fever

A

Usually occurs 2-3 weeks after GABHS pharyngitis. It develops as a result of cross-reactive antibody leading to inflammation of the heart, joints, brain, and vascular tissues.

Symptoms vary but common ones include aschoff body (heart nodules), fever, carditis, and arthritis.

A

Follows after campylobacter infection. Due to damage of PNS.
