Define electric field
Region around a body in which other charged bodies will feel a force due to the electric charge of the body
Define electric field lines
Point in the direction a positive charge would move in if in that field
Define electric field strength
Force per unit positive charge
Define field
A region where a force is exerted on a force at a distance
What does the force between two charges depend on?
Magnitude of charges
Distance between them
Equation for work done
Electric field strength x charge x distance between plates
Equation for acceleration between two parallel plates
(Electric field strength x charge) / mass
Equation for vertical velocity between two plates
(Electric field strength x charge x distance) / (mass x horizontal velocity)
Define electric potential
Work done in moving a unit of positive charge from infinity to a point in the field
Define electric potential energy
Work done in moving a body of charge from infinity to a point in the field
Assumptions of a positive isolated sphere
Charge is uniformly distributed on outer surface (outer surface is considered as a point charge at centre of sphere)
Electric field is radial (all points on the sphere have the same potential)
