Module 6 Vocabulary Flashcards
An equation whose solutions form a straight line on a coordinated plane.
Linear Equation
A relationship between 2 variables in which the data do not increase or decrease together at the same time
Non-linear relationship
An input-output relationship that has exactly one output for each input
Function
The value substituted into an expression or function
Input
A function whose graph is a straight line.
Linear function
A set of data that is made of 2 paired variables.
Bivariate Data
The value that results from the substitution of a given input into an expression or function
Output
A function whose graph is not a straight line
Non-linear function
A relationship between 2 quantities in which the ratio of one quantity to the other quantity is constant
Proportional relationship
The y-coordinate of the point where the graph of a line crosses the y-axis.
Y-intercept
The set of all possible input values of a function; the set of x-coordinates in a relationship
Domain
The set of all possible output values of a function; the set of y-coordinates in a relation
Range
The input of a function; a variable whose value determines the value of the output, or dependent variable.
Independent variable
The output of a function; a variable whose value depends on the value of the input or independent variable
Dependent variable
