What does Content anaylsis analyze?
Content analysis can be used to examine any type of qualitative UX data, including interviews, user verbalization, open-ended survey questions, focus groups and observations.
What is the objective of Content Analysis?
The objective is to reduce the information and the complexity of the discourse by dividing it into units and grouping them into fewer and more significant classes.
When is an inductive approach appropriate?
An inductive approach is appropriate
where prior knowledge concerning the phenomenon studied
is limited or when the technological field is not mature enough.
What is Deductive Analysis?
Deductive analysis approach begins with preconceived codes or categories
derived from theories, research or relevant previous publications.
What is the best practice for Content Transcribing?
It should be done as quickly as possible.
Ideally in real time and it is recommended that 2 people take notes and compare them afterwards.
How is the Coding Process done for Deductive Classification?
An already existing coding scheme is used to classify the qualitative content within different categories The classifications are then revised, reviewed and adapted.
How is the Coding Process done for Inductive Classification?
The analysis begins without a predetermined category then categories are created to highlight recurring themes. It is then revised and reviewed. Typically the classification is done during the second reading.
What are the steps to making an Affinity Diagram?
1.Transcribe each of the unitary ideas on post its
2. Group the ideas according to constructs or higher-level concepts
3. Make links between the groupings
Why is Quantitative analysis necessary?
It is necessary for psychometric-type data, such as standardized measure scales and behavioural measures like time and success.
