Straight catheter (cross-section) -  single use, washable 
Indwelling (foley) retention catheter (cross section) - Balloon inflated 5-10mL, long-term
Triple lumen catheter (cross-section) - used for continuous bladder irrigation, can be used on a short term or long term basis (30mL inflated balloon)

What is an intermitten catheter?

A

Known as the in and out catheter – a single straight catheter with a single lumen is introduced for 5 to 10 minutes

  • Sterile technique in hospital, clean in the community
  • Takin out as soon as urination occurs

What is the neobladder ?

A

Attached to your ureters so that urine can drain from your kidneys into the neobladder.
Other end is attached to your urethra, this allows you to maintain urinary control with a functional bladder capable of storing urine without the need for external bags or appliances
