indigenous are 4 times more likely males 20-24 and females 35-39 less than 5 and more than 80 years old unemployed single males and partnered females

residential settings are more common

incident involving death of family member or other person from a domestic relationship

current or former partner

most often mother the child is less than 1 day old mother is most often unmarried, young unwanted child no psychiatric disorders child is often killed through asphyxiation

discovery of unplanned pregnancy fear concealment of pregnancy emotional isolation denial
Altruistic Fillicide
mostly by mother misguided love, believes death is in best interest of child mental illness lack of social support feeling of inadequacy intention to kill
