MSK Requirements for CDL

A

1) No loss of foot, leg, hand, arm, OR has a SPE certificate

2) Has no impairment of
-Hand, finger interfering with prehension or power grasp
-Arm, foot, leg that interferes with ability to operate CMV, OR has SPE

3) Has no rheumatic, arthritic, neurologic, orthopedic, nuero/muscular or vascular disease that interferes with ability to safely operate CMV

With regards to MSK conditions, Examiners should consider 4 Main Things:

A

1) Nature and severity of condition (sensory or strength loss)

2) Degree of limitation (ROM for example)

3) Likelihood of progressive limitation

4) Likelihood of sudden incapacitation

A

Physiatrist and/or Orthopedic Surgeons (Board Eligible/Board Certified)

A

Yes - essentially their standards meet ours or whatever

Autonomic Neuropathy Recs

A

Don’t qualify until etiology is clear, and treatment is proven to be safe, effective and stable.

2 year cert

Do not certify for sxs of orthostatic hypotension, resting tachycardia, or any other organ neuropathy that interferes with driving.

A

Same as everything (don’t qualify unless etiology clear and treatment works and is stable).
