Module 5 Flashcards
Resource Smoothing
Involves attempting to even out varying demands on resources by delaying noncritical activities
Resource-Constrained Scheduling
Occurs when resources are not adequate to meet peak demands.
Time-Constrained Project
Must be completed by an imposed date. Time is fixed, and resources are flexible.
Resource-Constrained Project
Assumes the level of resources available cannot be exceeded (limited quantity or availability). Resources are fixed, and time is flexible.
Heuristics
Mental shortcuts or rules of thumb that help us make decisions quickly without having to think through every detail.
NIMBY
Not In My Back Yard
Splitting
To interrupting work on one task and assigning the resources to work on a different task then bringing them back to the original task
Time-Phased Budget Baseline
Helps track how a project’s budget is planned to be spent over time, breaks down costs into specific periods
Planned Value
It represents the value of the work that is planned to be completed at a specific point in time
Levelling
This is used to balance resource demand with the available supply.
Crash
Shortening the duration of an activity or a project beyond when it normally can be done.
Crash Time
Shortest possible duration in which a project activity or task can be completed by adding extra resources, such as more labor, equipment, or overtime.
Crash Point
The point at which further crashing becomes either impossible or inefficient.
Project Cost-Duration Graph
Used to compare additional cost alternatives for benefits
Fast Tracking
Used to speed up a project by performing tasks or phases simultaneously
