21
Q

Scissors

A

An instrument used for cutting. Comes in many lengths and blade shapes.

22
Q

Groove Director

A

Used to expand a vein to help guide a drain tube or drainage device into the vein

23
Q

Hemostats

A

A locking forceps used to clamp leaking vessels.

24
Q

Arterial Fixation Forceps

A

A locking forceps used to hold the arterial tube in a n artery

25
Q

Spring Forceps

A

An instrument used for grasping and holding tissues.

26
Q

Angular Spring Forceps

A

A variation used as a drainage instrument, generally in the internal jugular vein

27
Q

Retractors

A

A general purpose embalming instrument which is primarily used to spread incisions and to afford more working room. It can also be used as an aid in eye cap insertion.

28
Q

Towel Clamps

A

Clip device used to hold a towel in place for cosmetic application. Usually positioned around the neck.

29
Q

Drainage Tubes

A

Tubular instrument of varying diameter and shape, preferably with a plunger, that is inserted into a vein to aid in drainage of blood and to restrict the exit of vascular embalming fluid.

30
Q

Suture Needles

A

Sharp, curved or straight, needles used for suturing incisions or openings in the skin.

31
Q

Nasal Aspirator

A

Embalming instrument used to aspirate the throat by means of the nostrils.

32
Q

Autopsy Aspirator

A

A long, non-clogging hollow tube used to aspirate blood and arterial fluid from the cavities of autopsied bodies.

33
Q

Trocar

A

A long, hollow needle with a sharp point and curved handle used for aspirating and injecting body cavities

34
Q

Hypovalve Trocar

A

A trocar designed for hypodermic treatments, Used for injection, not aspiration.

35
Q

Cavity Fluid Injector

A

A device that screws onto cavity fluid bottles an is used for injecting the cavity.

36
Q

Hypodermic Needles

A

A long, hollow, sharp tube used for injecting embalming fluid directly into the tissues.

37
Q

Trocar Button Applicator

A

A screwdriver-like device used to insert the trocar button.

38
Q

Vein Expander

A

An instrument that is relatively east to insert into the vein. The center of the instrument opens (expands) to vein and the opposite end allows for a tube to connect which allows the bodily fluids to be directed away from the operator and down the drain.

39
Q

Needle Holder

A

Preparation room instrument used to hold suturing needles and keep them in good condition; or instrument used to hold a suturing needle while suturing.

40
Q
