Module 3 Flashcards
What does SMART stand for when setting objectives?
Specific, Measurable, Agreed, Realistic, Timely
When we talk about a ‘win/win’ situation in giving feedback, what does it mean?
You approach giving feedback in a way that both parties feel positive about the outcome. You have the courage to openly discuss the situation whilst showing consideration to the other person for how they may feel or react to the feedback
Why is the Johari window a good model to use for giving feedback?
We sometimes get ourselves worked up when giving feedback that the other person is doing a certain thing intentionally. If you approach it from a view that the person is unaware of the impact of their actions and that it’s in their blind spot, the conversation becomes a much easier one to have
Name 3 things that you should do when giving feedback
- Be clear of what you want to say before you say it
- Share your feedback in a concise and specific manner
- Avoid generalisations
- Be descriptive rather than evaluative
- Own the feedback
- Be careful about giving advice
