Protective factors
Parental monitoring and expectations can lead to substance abuse
Substance abuse in pregnant women
Lead to low birth weight and intrauterine growth restrictions
Providers often overlook abuse in older adults because
Symptoms mimic diabetes, depression, dementia
Impaired nurse
Frequently volunteers to give pain medications, have poor performance
