Module 2: Introduction to Information Technology Flashcards
Systems
is a collection of elements that interact to achieve a common goal.
User Support
IT provides support to users by first analyzing the needs and issues, then identifying and implementing solutions so users can stay productive with minimal technical interruption.
Data and Information Management:
storage and dissemination of organization data and information to support its effective use.
Networks
support communication between the elements of an IT system. Rely on hardware and software to connect computer systems and data repositories.
Systems Integrations
IT professionals engage in complex activities to ensure the new product integrates with the organization’s infrastructure ecosystem.
Software Development
implement various algorithms that transform data from one form into another, perform calculations, manipulate files, or complete other tasks that may be repetitive, time consuming and or dangerous to an employee
Business Analysis
Identifying systems that advance the organization’s business strategy is a key component of IT research and development activities.
Security
identify threats and prevent incidents that compromise the organization’s data or disrupt the business. Could cause data loss or modifications, exposure of data to competitors, or disruptions in availability that affect the normal course of the business.
Web Development
websites classified as either intranet, internet, or extranet.
Internet- commercial sites (e-commerce), blogs, social media.
Intranet
resources only available for users or systems of a specific organization. Helps protect sensitive information while still facilitating widespread communication through the organization.
Extranet
makes resources available within an organization, but it also makes that information available to other specific organizations or users, such as contracted, third-party consultants.
Business Intelligence
The data, when appropriately organized and analyzed, may tell compelling stories about the current state of the organization or the industry as a whole, its customers’ needs and wants, or specific trends that support informed decision-making
Project Management
Organizations need to ensure that projects execute in a manageable fashion, maintain scope, and optimize use of resources.
Outsourcing Services
The cost of maintaining the IT infrastructure of an organization might not always justify the existence of an in-house IT department
