Clarity - largely determined by the amount of fining and filtering the wine undergoes before bottling. Filtration process where a filter medium captures particles. Purpose of filtering is to make the wine clear and bright; and remove unwanted microbes and residual yeast that could make the wine re-ferment in the bottle.

Brightness - is a function of clarity and a result of the amount of fining and filtering. Thinner-skinner, light-pigmented grapes such a Pinot noir or Gamay will reflect more light than thicker-skinned, more deeply pigmented grapes such as Syrah or Cabernet Sauvignon.

Colour
White wines - depth and intensity of colour is a result/cause of the climate of origin (cool vs warm) as well as the overall age or oxidation in wine due to use or oak or time in the bottle.
Red wines - intensity of colour is due to depth of pigmentation, or natural colouring, in a grape variety.
