A- activating event (the trigger)
B- beliefs (what you are saying to you)
C- consequences
It’s not A what determines C, but B! We can’t control A, but we can control B.
What are thinking traps?
- mind reading
- the “me” trap

What is mind reading?
It’s assuming you know another person is thinking or expecting that other person knows what you are thinking
What is the “me” trap?
It’s the belief that you are the SOLE cause of every problem. ( tend to experience a lot of guilt and sadness).
What is the “them” problem?
It’s the belief that other people ar circumstances are the sole cause of your problems.
What is catastrophizing?
It’s when you are wasting critical energy ruminating. You overestimate the threat and underestimate your own resources to cope. It’s locking you from taking any action.
What is helplessness?
It’s the belief that negative effect is going to impact all areas of your life.
What are strategies to challenge counterproductive thoughts?
- use evidence
- reframe
- plan
What is “evidence” strategy?
Use vivid data to prove to yourself why that thought is not true. The sentence starter” that’s not true because …”
What reframing is?
Use optimism strategically. The sentence stater “ a more better way to see this or a better way to see this …”
What is “plan” strategy?
Strategy used when we are in catastrophic thinking trap. The sentence starter “ if X happens I will Y”
