Cartilaginous Joints
Little movement, elastic, use cartilage to connect different bony surfaces
Isometric Contraction
Increase in muscle tension but no shortening or active movement of muscle
Concentric Tension
Increased muscle contraction; shortens muscle
Eccentric Tension
Lengthening of muscle; control
Fibrous Joints
fit closely together and are fixed, little to no movement
Synovial Joints
true joints, freely moveable
Atelectasis (atalectasis)
collapse of alveoli
Embolus (PE)
Clot breaks off and travels to lung blocking the pulmonary artery
Hempiparesis
one sided weakness
Hemiplegia
one sided paralysis
Hypostatic Pneumonia
Inflammation of the lung
Negative Nitrogen Balance
body secretes more nitrogen than it ingests
Renal Calculi
calcium stones lodged in the renal pelvis or pass through the ureters
Venous Thromboembolism (VTE)
blood clot in a vein; DVT (Deep vein) and PE (pulmonary embolus)
Virchow Triad
damage to the vessel wall, alterations of blood flow, alterations in blood constituents
