Refugee (UN 1951 Refugee Convention)
someone who is unable or unwilling to return to their country of origin owing to a well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion
Asylum Seeker
a person seeking, but not yet granted, refugee status
- seeking asylum is a human right
internally displaced person
a person forced to leave their home due to armed conflict, violence, human rights violations, or disasters, who has not crossed an international border
