Module 11 - Managing Enterprise Clients Flashcards
A VPN configuration for Windows 10 that can automatically connect when users are outside of the office.
Always On VPN
A system that synchronizes files between multiple devices. This allows data to be accessed when offline.
data synchronization
A technology similar to Always On VPN but is compatible with Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.
DirectAccess
A framework that allows multiple authentication protocols to be integrated with the VPN sign-in process.
Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP)
A system that allows some user profile data to be stored on file shares instead of the local hard drive.
folder redirection
A VPN protocol that uses IPSec to secure data but can authenticate by using a user name and password. This protocol supports VPN Reconnect.
Internet Key Exchange v2 Tunneling Protocol (IKEv2)
An authentication-only VPN protocol that is combined with IPSec to provide data encryption. It is seldom used because it is difficult to configure.
Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP)
A feature that Windows 10 clients can use to synchronize files from a file share to the local computer for offline use.
offline files
An older VPN protocol that authenticates based on user name and password. It is generally considered insecure, but it is easy to configure.
Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP)
An enhanced variation of EAP that secures authentication by using TLS. For PPTP VPN connections, it can secure MS-CHAP v2 authentication.
Protected EAP
A remote control tool for Windows 10 that works well over the Internet and through firewalls.
Quick Assist
A feature in Windows 10 that allows a helper to connect to a Windows 10 computer and view the screen or to remotely control the computer.
Remote Assistance
The feature in Windows 10 that you can enable to allow remote control of the computer by using RDP on port 3389.
Remote Desktop
The client software included in Windows 10 that uses RDP to connect to Remote Desktop and RDS. It can be started at a command line with additional options by running mstsc.exe.
Remote Desktop Connection
An older network communication protocol that uses randomized port numbers.
remote procedure calls (RPC)
