meds must be considered as source of abrupt change in status
- abrupt change in mental status
- weight loss
- dehydration
- agitation or restlessness
- anorexia
- urinary retention
- decline in functional status
- daytime sleepiness
- falls

  • newly added medication is usually the culprit
