Module 1: Anatomy review Flashcards
cranial vs caudal
crain = head ways caud = tail ways
medial vs lateral
med = mid line lateral = side
superior vs inferior
sup = up inf = down
proximal vs distal
prox = closer to main bod dist = farther from main bod
transverse plane
i will saw my assistant in half, that kinda cut
sup v inf
frontal plane
parallel w collarbones
anterior vs posterior
sagittal plane
parallel w hair part
L v R
superficial v deep
super = more sufacey deep = deep
vertebral column (thorax & spine) movements
flexion (sit up)
extension - “lie down”
rotation - twist
lateral flexion - lateral crunch
cervical spine (neck) movements
flexion - chin to chest
extension - head back
rotation - no
lateral flexion - ear to shoulder
glenohumeral movements (shoulder)
flexion - arm up in front
extension - arm up behind
abduction - arms up to side, away from bod
adduction - arms down to side , add to bod
medial (internal) rotation - humerus rotate towards midline, elbow out
lateral (external) rotation - humerus rotate away from midline, elbow in
scapulothoracic movements (scapula)
elevation - shoulders up
adduction/retraction - shoulders back
abduction/protraction - shoulders forwards (arm forwards)
depression - shoulders down
upwards rotation - inferior angle rotates up, wings up
downwards rotation - inferior angle rotates “down”, wings return to anatomical position
humeroulnar and humeroradial movements (elbow)
flexion - forearm to arm
extension - forearm away from arm
proximal and distal radioulnar movements (forearm)
supination - hand up, hold the soup
pronation - hand down, no hold soup
radiocarpal movements (wrist)
flexion - palm to inside forearm
extension - back of hand to back of forearm
adduction - pinky to forearm laterally, add to midline
abduction - thumb to forearm laterally, away from mindline
