Q

Negative Feedback

A

A way to maintain homeostasis, a very common process in the body. The response of a negative feedback system opposes the stimulus.

6
Q

Positive Feedback

A

Does not maintain homeostasis. It emphasizes the stimulus and leads to rapid changes. A less common mechanism.

Q

Mass Balance

A

The body wants to balance what comes into the body and what comes out. Equal input = output means the body is in balance. This helps maintain water and solute content.

9
Q

What does homeostasis act on?

A

Extracellular fluid to maintain the correct amount of fluid inside and outside of the cells which helps them function properly.

Q

What does it mean for something to be inside the body? (internal?)

A

If something is inside the body then it has been absorbed. Must cross a barrier! Homeostasis maintains the internal environment.
