What is PINAGMULAN

What is KINALAKHAN
- cultural roots
- participation and being immersed in a cultural milieu acknowledged as Filipino
- “ethnic identification devices” (speaking a language, diskarte > asal at halaga)
What is KAMALAYAN
- consciousness
- awareness of the self as Filipino
- acceptance and pride of membership in the category “Filipino” - psychological dimension
- adolescents residing in other countries who still identify themselves as Filipinos
PILIPINO SA PANGALAN
individual recognizes that he or she is a Filipino but may not be involved in activities that highlight that identity
PILIPINO SA PUSO
individual considers Filipino-ness as a conviction (paninindigan)
- Filipino-ness has been internalized or integrated with the loob

Indigenous Psychology is an intellectual movement across the globe, based on the following factors:
1.A reaction against the colonization/hegemony of Western psychology.
2.The need for non-Western cultures to solve their local problems through indigenous practices and applications.
3.The need for a non-Western culture to recognize itself in the constructs and practices of psychology.
4.The need to use indigenous philosophies and concepts to generate theories of global discourse.
