A

a chord that can function as a predominant:
ii or IV are good!
VI or I are ok
or any chord in common to both keys

how to modulate using a pivot chord

A

establish original key
write the pivot chord (must be a tonic or pre-dominant in the new key)
write the dominant of the new key
resolve this dominant to tonic functioning chord in the new key (I, I6, vi)
