Modual 6 Flashcards
Shape A is reflected on the shape B. Shape A and shape B are diagonally opposite each other. What is the line of reflection?
In the line of Y=X
What details do you need to specify when figuring out the line of reflection?
The mirror line
What details so you need to specify when figuring out the rotation of a shape?
- the angle turned
- direction
- centre of rotation
What details so you need to specify when figuring out the translation of a shape?
The vector of the translation
What details so you need to specify when figuring out the enlargement of a shape?
- the scale factor
- the centre of enlargement
How do you figure out the scale factor of shape A onto shape B?
- count all of the square in shape A (4 squares)
- count all of the square in shape B (16 squares)
- figure out how many x it would take from shape A to B (4 times)
- Than you have your scale factor (scale factor 4)
How do you find the centre of enlargement?
- Draw a line from the bottom left hand corner of SHAPE A. Draw it up to SHAPE B’s bottom left hand corner and let it go all the way to the top of the grid
- Do the same thing with the other two corners
- Where all three lines meet, that’s your centre of enlargement
Shape A is reflected to shape B. They are both on top of the x axis and on either side of the y axis. Where is the line of reflection?
In the Y-axis
What is a segment?
A part of a line
How do you write vectors?
- on a line with A and B the way the point of the arrow isn’t facing is the first letter you start with
- put a across on top of the letters
What do you do the letters in vectors?
underline it
When you write the vector you put it in what? with what on top and what on the bottom?
- Large bracket’s
- x direction on top
y direction on the bottom
How do you construct a triangle when given 3 sides?
1) draw the longest measurement at the bottom
2) stretch your compass to one of the two other lengths
3) put the point of the compass on either point of the line you draw in STEP 1
4) move the compass to make a semi-circle
5) repeat STEP 2,3 AND 4 for the last measurement
6) where the two semi-circles meet, that it the top point of the triangle
How do you construct a triangle with the angle and two given sides?
1) draw the longest length
2) measure the angle and put a dot where it is
3) draw a line from the corner and go through the dot
4) draw the final line
How do you construct a 90 degree angle?
1) open your compass to a reasonable length
2) put the point of the compass on the point of the line and draw two arch’s on the line, either side of the point
3) open the compass a little bit further. Put the compass on one of the two arch’s and draw a bigger arch above it
4) repeat STEP 3
