Colloquially the Greeks prefer to use βατόμουρο, which technically means blackberry. The jar of raspberry jam illustrated here shows the use of βατόμουρο rather than σμέουρο.

Indeed, in Greece both redcurrant and blackcurrant bear the same name, and a blackcurrant jam label will read μαρμελάδα φραγκοστάφυλο, because redcurrant is uncommon in Greece and so they don’t bother specifying the ‘black’ bit - μαρμελάδα μαύρο φραγκοστάφυλο.
