Q

What were improvements about the army?

A

Men were chosen on ability as opposed to where they were in the hierarchy,

They were made to train very hard,

The army severely diciplined its troops and made them fulfil their duties to the army,

They strongly believed that they were fighting for God and even sung hyms before charging into battle.

Q

Why did Parliament have to reform their army?

A

The commanders of the Parliament’s army were shocked by the lack of discipline shown by their troops. They were also given very little training.

Unlike the experienced King’s army, the Parliament’s army was nearly impossible to control in battle.

Q

How did discipline make the Model Army fight better?

A

The laws of the Model Army were very strict and a lot of them were punishable by death if not followed. This made troops fight to the best of their ability.
