Q

Atrioventricular Valves (AV Valves)

A

Tricuspid Valve
- 3 cusps
- Connects the right atrium to the right ventricle

Q

Heart Location

A

Located in the thoracic cavity between the lungs

Anteriorly rests between the 2nd-6th ribs

Posteriorly rests against the 5th-8th vertebrae

2/3 of the heart left of the midline (left lung is smaller due to this)

1/3 of the heart is right of the midline

Apex of the heart is resting atop the diaphragm

Q

Left Coronary Artery

A
  • Left cusp of the Aortic valve
  • Divides into the Left Anterior Descending Artery and Anterior Interventricular
  • Supplies 65-75% of the blood supply to the left ventricle and septum
