Where does the left coronary artery supply blood to?
The left and right heart (approx 85% of coronary blood flow)
Where does the right coronary artery supply blood to?
Supplies the SAN and AVN and the right heart
Where does the venous blood return into?
The right atrium via the coronary sinus and anterior cardiac vein
The heart chambers directly via thebesian veins
Presence of collateral vessels
When are collalateral vessels required?
Normally collapsed as they are not involved as much
During difficulties in blood flow they are opened up by pressure and can be stimulated and provide oxygenation of those affected areas and bypass the clogged part of the artery
What is the underlying cause of stable angina/ angina pectoris?
Atheromatous disease of the coronary arteries
Describe the type of chest pain in stable angina
Feels tight, dull or heavy
Spreads to your left arm, neck, jaw, or back
Triggered by physical exercise or stress
Stops within a few minutes of resting
Name some more angina symptoms:
SOB, feeling sick (nausea), pain in lower chest or belly, feeling very tired
