List the core elements in MLA sourcing in correct order, with the corresponding punctuation.
Author. Title of source. Title of container, Other contributors, Version, Number, Publisher, Publication date, Location.
What is the correct way to list the author in the cited source?
Last name first, a comma, and then the rest of their name as reported in your text, and end with a period.
Example:
Jones, Lisa Breed.
In listing the title of the source, in which case should it be in italics.
A book should be in italics.
In listing the title of the source, what sources should be listed with quotation marks?
Periodicals such as magazines, newspapers, and journals.
A song or piece of music on an album.
An individual web page.
What is meant by the word “container”?
The larger whole of which the source is located. For example: a television series, a collection of poems, a website
Give an example of a container within a container.
A book of short stories on Google Books.
A television series on Netflix.
An electronic version of a journal on JSTORE.
What is the correct way to list additional contributors if they are relevant to your paper?
Describe their contribution and then their name like this: Annotated by Lisa Jones. OR
Illustrated by Lisa Jones.
If your source is listed as a version or an edition, how is that shown?

What is the correct way to list sources that are part of a multi-volume journal or books?
Book set - Vol. 2,
Journal issue - vol. 3, no. 2,
TV series - season 5, episode 6,
When is it no necessary to list the publisher?
When citing periodicals, works published by their author or editor, websites whose titles are the same name as their publisher, websites that make works available but do not actually publish them (i.e., You Tube, JSTORE)
When citing an older television episode which may have more than one release date, such as ABC and then Netflix, what date should you use?
Usually go with the date of the original publication, unless you are using the source for historical context, in which case you would list the date it aired and on which network it was aired.
How would you specify the source location in a book or article in a journal?
Page numbers should be listed as pp. 74-94.
How would you specify the source location on a website?
It should include the URL but remove the http:// or https:// from the beginning.
In what instances would the city of publication need to be cited?
Since works written before 1900 were usually associated with the city in which they were published, you can substitute the city name for the publisher’s name.
In what situation would you cite the date you accessed the information and why?
When citing an online source, because online work can move or be changed at any time.
