What are the main similarities and main differences between tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs) and serotonin-noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs)?
Both types of drug treat depression primarily by inhibiting reuptake of serotonin and noradrenaline. However, TCAs also act upon histaminic, muscarinic, and alpha-1 receptors, resulting in undesired side effects.
