Mitosis And Meiosis Flashcards
Prophase(G2) -EARLY
1) centrioles pair move apart, chromosome shorten and thicken(become visible) and nucleolus +envelop disappears
Main difference between mitosis and meiosis
Mit= chromosomes are transmitted during cell division Meio= euk chromosome are transmitted during reproduction
Prophase-LATE
2) mitotic spindles assemble, sister chromatin visible, n.envelope breaks down and kinetochore appear
Prometaphase
3) kinetochore enzyme attached centromere on sister chromosome, no nucleus mem. And kinetochore micro tubules attach
Metaphase
4)kinetochore micro tubules(spindle fibers) orient chromosome on metaphase plate
Anaphase -EARLY
5) sister chromosome desperate at centromere and daughter migrate to opposite poles
Anaphase -LATE
6) daughter chromatin retract at poles and cytokines begins
Cytokines Subtypes
- animal: cleavage furrow (pinching)
- plant: cell plate forms ( parts of Golgi aid)
Telophase
7) nuclear envelope and nucleolus apear , chromosome expand ( less visible) and cytokinesis finished
Interphase
8) chromosome aren’t visible
At this point chromosome and centrioles replicate (NON DIVIDING state )
Prophase 1 unique to meiosis
-homologous chromosome and crossing over can occur
Leptonema
Chromosome condense and visible and now committed to meiosis
Zygonema
Synaptonemal complex where synapsis results bj zipper like alignment of chromosome bases ( allows crossing over)
Diakinesis
= tetrad and crossing over occurs
Diplomema
Homologous chromosome move apart and chiasma visible at c.o. Location
