Mitosis Flashcards
What are the 4 types of noncoding DNA sequences?
- Transcription/Translation regulators
- Origins of DNA replication
- Centromeres
- Telomeres
What are the 4 phases of a cell?
G1, S, G2, Mitosis
What happens during G1 Phase?
The beginning of cell life where centrioles start to divide, cell grows to full size, DNA is in single strands, and TRANSLATION/TRANSCRIPTION occur
What happens during S Phase?
DNA replicates, diploid & haploid, centrosomes and centrioles replicating.
What happens during G2 Phase?
nucleus is well defined, centrosomes are present, DNA is duplicated, RNA is transcribed to make proteins.
Mitosis: What happens during Prophase?
The chromatin fibres condense and the chromosomes are now visible as 2 identical sister chromatids.
Mitosis: What happens during Prometaphase?
Chromatin fibres are fully condensed and kinetochore appear.
Mitosis: What happens during Metaphase?
Chromosomes line up and attach to the spindle fibres at the centromere.
Mitosis: What happens during Anaphase?
Sister chromatids separate through the spindle fibres that pull them apart into separate chromosomes.
Mitosis: What happens during Telophase?
Chromosomes decondense, nuclear envelope forms, you now have 2 daughter cells.
