The process of duplicating cells (chromosomes)
What are chromosomes?
They are found in the nucleus and contains genes (genetic information)

What is the first phase of mitosis called?
Prophase
What happens during the prophase of mitosis?
The DNA is replicated and chromosomes becomes chromatids
What is the second phase of mitosis called?
Metaphase
What happens during metaphase of mitosis?
Spindle fibres contract and align the chromotid in the middle of the cell
What is the third phase of mitosis called?
Anaphase
What happens during anaphase of mitosis?
Spindle fibres shorten and pull chromatids to opposite sides of the cell
What is the fourth phase of mitosis called?
Telophase?
What happens during telophase of mitosis?
Cell divides to form new cells
What is the final phase of mitosis called?
Cytokinesis
