Mission Planning Flashcards
What goes in Remark 1 on the Comanche TDH card? How do you find out what to start at?
A) The Waypoint number.
B) Load your route onto the card and check which waypoint # it assigns, add those waypoint #s in the remarks section, and reload the card.
What is the DTED? What is RDTED and what’s the difference?
A) Digital Terrain Elevation Data
B) Regridded Digital Terrain Elevation Data
C) DTED is used in Falcon View, but must be converted to RDTED before it can be used in the aircraft for HAT (Height Above Terrain) in the TAC MAP page of the MFDs
What can DTED level 2 be regridded to in RDTED? How is this accomplished?
A) Levels 0, 1, and 2 (800m, 100m, and 30m respectively).
B) DTED Level 1 covers more areas than DTED Level 2. For this reason a common technique is to regrid DTED Level 1 (100m) into RDTED Level 1 (100m). Then regrid DTED Level 2 (30m) into RDTED 2 (30m) for the areas where DTED 2 is available. Be careful not to regrid the level 1 or 0 DTED twice as duplicates will take up more space and not be read in the aircraft.
How do you clear old maps cached in the aircraft and load new maps on a PCMCIA into the cache? How long will this take?
On the FMS perform the following steps: A) Select the ZRO FFK B) Select ZEROIZE DTS with the soft keys C) Select CACHE with the soft keys Then load the mission data in the FMS. This will automatically add any maps in the PCMCIA in the cache that are designated to and make available any maps on the card. MAPS WILL NOT LOAD PROPERLY OR DISPLAY WITHOUT GPS CONNECTIVITY
It takes 5-10 minutes to clear the Cache and 30-45 minutes to load the maps.
What will all landing plan diagrams include?
A) No-fire areas
B) Friendly troop locations
C) Weapons engagement fans.
These control measures must consider the location of friendly forces and planned landing formation.
