What is the definition of psychology?
The study of mind and behaviour.
What is the difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist?
Psychologists studied psychology at university, studies thoughts, feelings and behaviours
Psychiatrists can do everything that psychologists do, but they are also qualified medical doctors, can perform medical procedures, and prescribe medicines to treat mental illnesses
What are neurons?
Nerve cells in the brain.
What are dendrites?
They are extended “branches” of nerve cells, which reach out like tree branches and it allows neurons to communicate with each other.
What is the corpus callosum?
A bridge of nerve fibres which link both brain hemispheres together.
Define: Personality
Personal characteristics that are unique to an individual and that determine their thoughts, feelings and behaviour in a wide range of situations
Define: intelligence
The ability to gain knowledge and wisdom and apply it to a range of situations
What is non verbal communication?
Unconscious actions that broadcast our feelings.
